Do I have to take the tailshaft off to get the top cover completely off so I can access the gears or do I jut need to pull the top cover toward the front of the tranny a littler harder to get it to pop out?

See http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/onlineorder/product.asp to download a FREE service manual for T5 or Tremec 3550
You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

See http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ or http://www.ddperformance.com for parts

A T5 rebuild kit with syncros, bearings and other small parts costs about $160. It does not include any gears or shafts.

http://cartapes.com also has a video on how to rebuild your T5 or Tremec. It costs less than $20, and is worth every penny of it.

Thanks guys. I blew the hell out of the tranny going into third a couple of months ago and I'm just now getting around to taking a look at it. I was thinking I only blew a synchro at first, but when I spin the input shaft, it's sounding pretty crunchy in there. I'll take some pics an post them if it's seriously mangled.

I shifted into third improperly once (imagine that), the tranny banged really loud then god stuck in third. When I tore it apart there were teeth chipped on fourth gear.........still havent figured that one out.
