im having a hard time deciding on what i want to do to my new 351w. ive got a 351w dart block, with a 408 strocker, 8.5:1 comp. pistons and im about to order my heads and intake. what would u guys do, a s/c, single or twin turbo? i like the turbos cuz i could save the engine a bit intown, but i want the s/c full time power........what would u do?

personally, if money isn't an object i'd go with a turbo setup. sooooooooooo many people supercharge their car, and it's awsome and all, but turbo-ing it would be a lot cooler...

my friends dad actually has a 90 lx with a bluprinted 302 and a t60 turbo setup and it's wicked!

i think the best thiing would be that if youre car was a major sleeper, and one of those punkes who turboed their honda (their everywhere here) pulled up next to you and sounded their blow-off valve to try to surprise you... then you do the same exact thing to them...

hahaha thet would $hit their pants!

i was thinking of turbo-ing my car for that very reason.

What is your budget? And engine that size is going to need a serious setup regardless, likely a YSi if you go supercharger.

Turbo will probably make more power, but the supercharger will likely be easeir and cheaper to do.

The only reason i wouldnt turbo your car is because it would make too much power. A turbo 408 would have traction issues and clutch issues to be streetable IMO. I say turbo it but run 6 psi, you should be making 700 RWHP with that.

Oh and before any of the 15 year olds start yapping OMFG 2 MUCH POWA ISNT ENUF!!!1`1onezzZ

Think about this for a second, 900 rwhp from a turbo 408 is going to get you nowhere unless your rearend is completely and uttertly bulletproof, traction? Youll need slicks, slicks are not legal on the streets. Clutch? Only clutch to handle that is an on/off switch.

Keep the boost low and you should have enough power to run low 10s and annihilate anything on wheels.

I agree with Dbeck002 a twin turbo setup would be awesome but good luck driving that thing on the street. With that much power it would be easy to send yourself into a wall when you mash the gas to pass the grandma in front of you and your tires break loose at 80mph and you put the car sideways.

I agree with dbeck, likely a engine of that size and strenght possibly doesn't even need a power adder.
Use a solid lifter setup, a great set of heads, proper intake, an you can 500+ to the wheels, and take it to 7500 rpm.
Low to mid 10's no power adder is quite nice.

an 8 sec combo was pretty much what i was shooting for, but 10 seems great also. the turbo set up i was looking at has a potental of 20 psi, but id run it at 10-12 psi when not on the track. for the rear axle, i have a detriot limited slip with 31 spline axles and 3.27 gears.

Tranny, and heads is my next questions, what manual tranny could handle this if any, and i wanted to go afr heads, what would be the best?

You are going to need an all out race head. On a turbo car i've seen Cnc'ed street heats produce about 1500rwhp so...
Don't know much about other brands.

If you use a manual trans, you might as well forget about going 8's. It can be tough to even get a manual trans into the 9's.
