The person that buys the Ford probably doesn't care about the ZO6. I wouldn't.

There's something about a 700HP+ mustang that a Z06 will never have.

Can we compare the Shelby with something at least in the same class? Camaro, Challenger? Just because GM left a void in their lineup doesn't automatically mean that the Mustang is now taking on the Corvette. If GM suddenly decided to stop making the corvette for a year, then could we gloat over the Shelby compared to the Chevy Cobalt? Silly? Yes..

No we can't. Because that would make sense.

You now know my evil plan LV51FER. I have the 2007 GM Performance Catalog dog-eared on page 88 next to my Bed, by the MM&FF and the Bible.

Yup you guys are right, we should compare a $75,000 car to Camaro's and Challengers.

At what price do we compare the Shelby to the Vette? 100k? 200k? Or according to some of you stunads, we should ONLY compare it to the Camaro and the Challenger.

I can AGREE (OH MY GOD I SEE HELL FREEZING OVER... hahahahaha ) with V on this one gentlemen. At this point I believe it is acceptable to compare the two classes as competitors. As V can attest to, as our in-house avid reader, many sport magazines compare very different class vehicles and at the end will round off the "competitors". Many of these vehicle manufactures probably look who their target demogaphic competitor is totally different than the real world dictates. Who would imagine that many M3/M5 owners are kickin hard times on our Stangs and GMs. Audi as well.

So, in this light I would have to agree with V. He is being somewhat civil and has contributed some fairly good threads the last few weeks. My wait and watch approach may pay off in the form of a valuable member of Stangnet if he can soften his delivery on his comments and hedge his opinion with more open-ended factual dialogue.

(I feel like I just issued an Achievement and Development Program assessment on that. LOL)

Bingo!!!!! It is very possible that the next Gen Camaro SS will get the Z06 engine...that would be dead on comparable to the Super Snake...apples to apples all the way!

Back in the mid '60s you can honestly compare a Shelby(NOT a Mustang)to the Corvette...The Shelby Daytona Coupe. It was a loosely based coupe version of the Shelby Cobra and was aimed directly at the 1963 Corvette Gran Sport.
A Shelby Mustang is just that...a Mustang. When the Camaro and Challenger are released again, the comparos between Stang and Vette will certainly die down agin...

a 415hp roush beats the GT 500 on a track, then why will adding 250 more HP help the GT500????

I was playing Forza 2 last night, My grand national with about 1010hp is no faster than when I only have it at 350hp... In fact the slower detuned cars tend to be faster. MT drove the TNT viper years ago, they called it a death trap that is un-drivable.

My C5 Z06 had a way bigger trunk than the Mustang so I'm not going to allow you that one. I haven't looked in the trunk of the shorter C6 Z06 as the ugliness tends to sear my retinas if I look for more than 5 seconds but as it has run-flats, i anticipate the trunk is still huge.

Is the SS a two-seater? The Vette is.

That is only one example of why comparing these two cars is pointless. They are not intended toward the same buyer(necessarily). If you only want to talk about sheer performance you can argue that the Z06 is a better bargain. But, there is a lot more to any car than just sheer performance. It's the overall experience that matters and when you can get in a car and have a smile on your face, that is all that matters. I think the ZO6 is an awesome car, however, I would love to have a SS just to drive around smiling.
