I am kind of at a crossroads here.. my stock 150 hp 3.8 just ain't cutting it, and someday I want to make the car go fast. I like my car, I have put a lot into it, so I don't want to just sell it and buy a GT. But it needs more power, so the way I see it I can either swap in a new engine, or supercharge the one I have. Swapping in a crate V8 would be very expensive, because you have to pay to have all the components switched, maybe would have to buy a new transmission too. Then wrestle with the DEQ explaining why the VIN says V6 but the emissions says V8. The other option, supercharging my current engine, would be cheaper, but my engine has over 105,000 daily driven miles. Would a supercharger just send it rocketing to the grave that much quicker, with the increased stress? So far the engine and tranny run fine; no clunks or oil leaks or anything. I am just really paranoid that something would go wrong. This is my only car so I have to be careful, I depend on it every day. Has anyone supercharged their V6? Would you do it again?

Honsetly, as much as you don't want to hear it, you're better of getting a used GT. In the long run it'll be cheaper, easier, and a more solid car.

Church!

When I pay off my 04 V6 Vert, I plan on moving into a used GT or Cobra for that reason you stated.

a new engine would be pretty expensive but when u think about a supercharger isnt going to be too cheap either after all the hardware u need for it. personally im with chingon and monkey boy lol (no more ncsu?) but it really depends how attached to the car u are and how much u wanna spend on it if ur not gonna get another car.

I don't know.. grrrrr.... maybe I'll wait and see what those updated 2009 GT's are gonna be all about..I have never owned a brand new Mustang, maybe the updated design will be enough to make me sign the dotted line?

i would just build up your current engine, or get a 4.2 and build that up with forged guts and splitport stuff on top thats been p/p, then turbo/supercharge it, and put that in. v6 insurance, v8 go

yeah, I have been looking at packages from super six motorsports.. they have a stage 3 package for the 3.8 that includes ported upper & lower intake, new heads, and performance cam. It costs a lot, but claims to increase HP by 75 with no blower or nitrous. I am researching to see what if anything it would do to my fuel economy. This car will still be my daily driver.
