hi i was thinking of getting the kenne bell 2.1L intercooled kit for my 2000 gt. the gt has 97000k on the motor so i was wondering if buying a supercharger is a good idea.

if your going to run 8-9lbs boost you should be ok but no more or the stock engine will go. as long as your car is well maintained then your should have no problems

Shouldn't be an issue with a conservative tune on a well maintained engine. Like anything though, the more you beat on it, the shorter its going to last.

+1 to the above: If it's been well maintained, the motor should be fine. Stay off the rev limiter and don't forget to disable the traction control every start, don't beat on it till it's warm and if you don't use the KB tune then don't tweak the custom tune for max power - prioritize for a safe, conservative AFR as KB does and you'll be fine.

At 97K you may have other concerns: the condition of an automatic trans at that age or a clutch in a manual car may warrant some budgetary "just in case" thought...

You'll be fine. Just don't "Traffic Light" race. Get a good tune.

Can you afford to rebuild the motor if you break it?

That's pretty much the magic question---what if something went wrong? Would you be able to swing it or would it put you in a major strain since the car seems to be a daily driver.
