Supercharger Install

I will do mine myself. unless you make $50 an hour + it just does not make sense to pay poeople $70 an hour to turn wrentches.

now tuning the car I can understand where people may not want to spend the $1100-1300 it would cost in tools.

no special tools for a supercharger install.

my .02 would be kenne bell . I mean it would be more an an intake manifold swap. get rid of the plastic pos intake at the same time.

I spent a year of researching superchargers before I made my decision. I had pretty much narrowed it down to a mongoose kit or the KB. I have zero complaints about the KB.

The only thing I would recommend is to take a read everything with a grain of salt. Everyone's idea of "fast" is different, based on what they have driven in the past. I have driven all kinds of race cars over the last 15 years or so. Mostly pretty high power to weight ratio stuff, winged dirt cars, late model stock cars, legend cars..... I would say, if anything, people really overstate the feeling of power from the KB, and you can get used to 400 RWHP pretty quick. It's also not this all the time "massive" torque that guys go on and on about. Can you really roast the tires in first and second, yep. But do you have to really be in it, yep. If you are in third, at say 2500 RPM, and stab it, it won't "blaze the tires" like some will give you the impression. Now if you downshift and stab it, that is a different story! Unless you do some work in the rear suspension and get some sticky tires, you can't really get into it in first and second, but it is pretty fun on the freeway. 125 comes really quick! If you like driving corners hard, you will definitely need to upgrade the brakes.

Don't get me wrong, I am not in any way trying to talk you out of it. I love it to death. About a week after buying my car I realized it was heavily under powered, and it is pretty decent now. I just want to make sure you know what you are going to get. I was just expecting a little more from the way guys go on and on about them on these forums. If you have never had a fast car, I am sure you will be very happy. If you have though, you may want to do the lower end and maybe the heads and/or cams first, then do a 14lb 1.7 or even a 2.2 KB. I think the lower end, heads, and cams are in my fairly near future after I do some suspension work.

do it yourself. it's not that hard. it just takes some time and patience.
