supercharger knocking noise????

i installed my new RR pulley and IC setup. i test started the car to make sure there were no leaks or anything and the s/c is making a clicking/knocking noise. is the pulley on wrong? is is spinning good, no wobble from side to side or anything. i reconnected all the oil lines and everything. someone please help me find out what is going on.

i know that it is getting oil to the supercharger. how can a pulley make a noise like that? could the tensioner be going bad? do i need a shorter belt when swapping from a 3.5 to a 3.4 pulley? i'm about to just sell the whole IC setup and be done with it!

ok i just looked at the tensioner while it is running and it is jumping a lot it should be sitting still until i get on the throttle right? does this mean i need a new belt or a new tensioner?

It sounds like it could be the idler if it jumps continuously. Does it jump with the rhythm of the noise? I have had bushings in the alternator go bad and cause a tapping noise.

i meant to say the tensioner, not the idler

ok i think i found the problem. the edge of the RR pulley is just barely hitting the idler pulley under it. i can see a line on the idler from the Rs/c pulley riding on it. is there anything i can do to fix this?

RR? Does that mean Reichard Racing?

Anyways, is it hitting the idler that is on the swing arm of the tensioner? Maybe the spring in the tensioner is weak and needs replaced?

yes it is a reichard racing ultra grip pulley and no, it isnt hitting the pulley on the tensioner. it is hitting the idler pulley that is just above the tensioner. maybe MPH will get me a new paxton pulleyt since the RR one is not working. i could get my friend to mill the edge down a little but i hate to start cutting on a $150 pulley! for that price it should work perfectly. oh well i guess i will have to tear it all down again and start from scratch tomorrow evening

ok i called MPH. they told me to grind down the inner lip of the pulley. i did it and the knocking noise is gone. now all that is left is to hook up all the lines that are loose.

actually i dont have to mess with my bracket. the novi comes off fairly easy.
