Supercharger on! Attempt to start...not so good

Alright well yesterday we got the final parts put of the Whipple HO supercharger on my 2006 Mustang GT. We got the tune loaded, coolant in, and everything is place. We then crossed our fingers as we attempted to start the thing. We tried and she'd crank!...but then nothing more. She'd crank and crank and we'd get nothing. Stumped, we then checked to see if we we're getting pressure from the fuel pump. We took off the fuel rails and cranked her again just to see if we had pressure, we didn't feel anything. We then checked the fuel pump to see if it was pumpin out gas. cranked her and got nothing out of the fuel pump. We doing something wrong here? Any suggestions? We're honestly stumped as to what to do next. We checked wiring and everything and SUPPOSEDLY we have power to the pump. Could it be that the tank is below a 1/4 of a tank of gas? Let me know what you guys think.

My first thought would be to check and recheck the wiring for the fuel system. Did you install the fuse? Try hitting the reset button on the driver's side kick panel. Did you take the relay out of the fuse box and maybe forget to put it back in? When you connected the line to the fuel pump did you tug on it hard to make sure it's clicked in and locked?

see thats something we did already. We checked the wiring extremely throughly but maybe we should check a little more. We should have the fuse in and everything...

I would check the voltages to the pump with the key in the on position. If the pump is getting power than it could just be a bad pump.

I would try loading the stock tune, and see if it'll at least fire up. I know when I installed my tune for my JLT, it was for the "other" strategy used for the '06 models. I gave Doug a call at Bamachips and he knew right away what it was. If it does fire up, although not run well, it would likely point towards the tune.

yeah but how would I really know its a bad fuel pump? Is there a way to test the thing to be sure its bad?

also we noticed that a plug called a thermal connector..something was unplugged...we we're confused about that also cuz the instructions aren't clear about it. That doesn't have to do anything with "not starting" does it?

Dunno about that, but it will probably be an issue at some point.

If you're getting power to the pump, but it's not pumping then I'd assume it's bad. Do you have any diagrams of the pump? What wires are coming off of it?

someone suggested to me check the inertia switch...anyone know anything about that?

That's the switch on the driver's side kick panel in a small hole (in the plastic panel) next to your leg. It's a red button that you just press in.

That plug you showed a pic of looks like the plug that used to connect to the old charge motion control motor. That's the electric motor (tiny) that controlled the butterfly plates in the old intake assy. They have you disconnect that and leave it disconnected because your new Whipple intake manifold doesn't use the plates.

Well thats exactly it. We worked on her for a couple of hours tonight and got her to start and run! and she sounds beautiful! The problem was the 21 fuse. For some reason it wasn't getting good connection. My friend accidentally wiggled it a bit and we noticed the fuel pump kicked in. We then made a slight adjustment to the prongs and she started and runs good now! After all it was just a small and easy problem kinda funny actually ha ha. Thanks for the help guys!

Well that sounds good. I think I'd get a new fuse. Sometimes a fuse will be broken inside and the fact that it works when you bent the terminals suggests that may be the case. Glad you got her running.
