Would you be able to hear a centrifical supercharger at idle. I was looking at an 88 gt with a paxton and it makes no noise at idle. It only makes noise at WOT. I heard a procharged t/a and it whined at idle, almost screamed. This 88 gt barley made any noise. I test drove another gt with a vortech and this one also screamed at idle. Is there something wrong with supercharger or is it good to go?
Please let me know
Thanks

Vortec makes a quiet model. Maybe the Paxton is of the same design type and the quiet Vortec.

vortech SQ (super quiet) = quiet
Vortech V-1 = nice and loud
procharger = screams

Thanks, I was hoping that the s/c was not messed up. I aml looking at an 88 gt that has a paxton 12psi on it. I was wondering if the car was worth what the guy wants. It has a perfect body maf connversion, roh wheels, saleen gauges, b&m ripper shifter, 3.55's and he wants $4500. What do you think.

It sounds like the Paxton might be a Ball Drive unit because they can hardly be heard at idle. Sounds like a good deal.

A blown Stang with ROH rims for less than $5K total? If you don't buy it, tell me where it is and I will.

Whining blowers are fine, that's usually the standard.

i would go for it. There are so many different kind of superchargers, noisy, not noisy, semi noisy. I dont know about that type of blower, but vortechs whine like crazy at idle. Sounds pretty cool. Anyways i would check it out make sure it drives good......drive good=BUY IT OR I WILL

my novi 2000 puts out a nice whine at idle. People always ask, "whats under the hood of that thing".

The car runs and drives fine. The only problem is the syncros are going out.

My s-trim and noisey timing gear drive sounds like a jet engine at idle.

Mine sounds like a jet also. Not all V2 S-trims are "super quiet" at all. This is what mine sounds like with the hood up and closed. If you turn up your speakers when I am at the end of the driveway (30 ft) you can hear nothing but the blower until I drive down the street.
