Supercharger setup help

Hey I have been doing a lot of research but I'd better ask people that know. I have a 2000 GT with a forged bottom end and head work that I plan on supercharging. I am going with a V2 most likely but I have questions on the setup. Since I want to run higher boost like 12 psi, what do I need to do? I am probably going with a Kenne Bell boost a pump. Should I put 42 or 60 injectors in? I guess I can't do the standard send my computer to vortech because I am going with higher boost levels. Lastly, do I need to buy a flash tuner? Is there something simpler like someone on here burning a chip for me? Or do I definately need to go to a dyno. I realize I am newer on this forum but can you please give me some help. I have the part numbers of all the forged internals if you need that. Thanks

i would say definatly go have it tuned on a dyno for the best results. its better to be safe than sorry and it will get the most out of your tunning. i would suggest getting a hand held tunner they have great usable features for trouble shooting (pulling codes) and tunning (shift points, rev limmit, speedo calabrating, removing the govener for top speed). you will definatly gain with a chip it can actually make or break a good setup. with all that you ask they are all benifitial but cost much $$$. if you did all of these it would probly be the best result. just my opinion. good luck..

with 12psi you could run 42s but if you already have a forged engine then i'd go with some 60s that way if you want run more boost you wont have to worry about maxing out the injecter duty cycle. No you cant send you computer to vortech becuase they probably wont tune it and you dont want their tune anyway (they suck and run way to rich) You need to take it to a dyno. you should buy a sct handheld because almost everyone uses them or check for a sniper tuner in your area. I say sniper because i have the special forces kit and love it. If you push the blower to around 14psi you will see over 500rwhp

I have heard that the kb boost a pump isnt that good and will actually decrease the efficiency of your stock pump. I would go with a cobra tank with twin pumps and you will be set.

42 or 60lb injectors
Cobra Tank and pumps
SCT2400 MAF
Custom tune with SCT or Diablo which ever your tuner uses.

You said V2 as in Vortech? If so I would go with a T-Trim with an 8 Rib Pulley Kit and 2.75 pulley. That will make one badass car.

thanks a lot for the help everyone. I called one of the local mustang dyno shops and they use SCT. They said they charge $500 for a dyno tune. Is this too expensive?

Also, I may wait until the summer to put a supercharger in. Could I possibly put in the 60# injectors, cobra tank/pumps, and a 90mm MAF without a dyno tune? I just want to get this out of the way first. Also, can someone tell me where I can buy the cobra tank and pumps for a good price? Thanks

The cobra tank and pumps wont change anything but the MAF and injectors will. I keep thinking you can just change them with the SCT with out a tune but maybe not if you can’t then you will have to get a tune for those. Your best bet is to install everything at once just to make things simple.

I would look into an SCT MAF instead of the 90mm L, the LMAF wont last long if you plan on running some serious boost.
