I recently got a superchip programmer for my '01 Cobra. I installed the program and really didn't notice much of a difference. Does anyone have any insight on this, or tips to make me notice the difference?

Also, The diagnostic feature always reads P1000, which means more driving required, but I have put about 1,000 miles on it since initially programming. Any suggestions?

Call superchips and get an RA.
They will take care of it.
Is the car stock?

I also programmed my 01' with a superchips tuner late in the fall. I found a noticeable difference right away. Are you using a custom tune or the superchips settings? I custom tuned mine, decreased the fan temp. to 160 deg., took off the rev limiter, etc. I had to change it back to stock settings a few times when I took the car in to the dealership but as soon as I brought it home, I would reprogram and notice an immediate difference. I wouldn't say it was a huge difference, probably about 5-10 rwhp in my estimation.

I bought the '01 used, and I'm guessing it was stock. I don't really know if it was ever programmed before. I'm getting about 11 miles to the gallon too, I drive it hard, but I don't really ever go past 5500 rpms, and that's rare. It doesn't smoke otherwise I would think it was rich. I used the superchips program on every choice.

I really don't care much about the gas mileage, but I do think it's strange to get that low. Do you think I should contact superchips? I have heard to disconnect the battery for about 1/2 hour so the computer resets.

Let me know, I trust this forum and the experiences from you guys.

Do you think I should bring it back to stock, and then try the new program over?

A Return Authorization #.

Call them and get an RA.
I'll look at the tuner and make some changes to the program where necessary.

Remember...the 4.6 4v n/a isn't going to make huge power with just tuning.....we show around 10-15 hp at the tire.
The 03 Cobra makes 30+ HP with ONLY a program.
That's the nature of the n/a beast v/s supercharged.
Ford runs s/c vehicles rich from the factory and that allows for more HP increases with tuning.
Like the 03 Cobra, the 4v n/a cobra also requires 91 octane from the factory. Because it is not supercharged, Ford was aleady "somewhat" aggresive with timing so there is not much room for increase and not much room to lean them out.
Get an RA, they will update the program and send it back to you.
It'll make power, just don't expect miracles!
If you can feel it (or see it at the track), it is working.

thank you for the advice. I will get the RA and have them look at the program. Should I return the car to stock position before returning the module?

I'll post a message when I get it back and tell you what happened. Thanks again, I really like the experience from this forum.

You must return the car to stock before sending the tuner back.
This is a MUST!

I sent the chip back, but I did notice a difference now that it's un-programmed. Hopefully they'll soup up the program though.

I did have problems with the diagnostic feature, so I am really not that sorry I sent it back.

hmmmm...

Can someone fill me in on this device?

Does it reprogram your computer or does it reprrogram your superchip? I dont know anyone in person who uses this.

I am real happy with my present tune except for the fact that my rev limiter is non-existent. It would be real nice if I could change that myself...also timing would be nice...I would like to be able to slow my car down a bit actually hehe until I get the nerve to drill the holes for the roll bar!

Milkowich....

It doesn't reprogram the chip (like the one Dave burned for you).

It reprogrammes the stock PCM so you don't need to use a chip.

It is made for basic upgrades.
For instance, on an 03 Cobra, it has a performance file for a "stock" 03 cobra, and an HP4 file for those with a 2.93 or 2.81 upper pulley

The HP-4 is going to be basically the same tuning you have now, so just keep what U got!

Are you the guy who got his chip from JDM and Dave from superchips came out and tuned it for you at one of the FFW events?
