How much does the "performance chip" go for?

How do you install it? do you just plug it in and go?

If you unplug it will the Computer go back to Normal driving conditions?

Please explain.

Go with SCT - Superchips Custom Tuning
Mail order tune is $325 - www.modulardepot.com is one of the best
http://www.modulardepot.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_47&products_id=65
Install is a simple plug and play (you have to clean the contacts well!)
Yes, unplugging the chip will return you back to stock.
The SCT is a 4 position chip, so you can have up to 4 different tunes on the chip, and switch between with a remote rotory dial. (You can later use this same chip and go to an SCT Tuner and get another, completely new tune while preserving this original tune.) The $325 price includes 1 tune. When ordering the chip, you will be asked to give them details about your car, your mods.
SCT - The Guys That Know!!!

Yeah, I've got both (well, noth really Superchip, but SCT). IMO, SCT is the hottest tuning tech going today.

Diablosports' CMR(Chip Master Revolution) is the hottest right now. A diablosports chip can be mailordered like a sct chip. But CMR is on-site only tuning for best results. I would rather have that done on-site than mail order(better peice of mind/you can drive down the street to get a tune adjustment). I'm not sure CMR is everywhere, but the only the best shops are qualified to tune with the cmr(you cannot purchase this software. Anyone who wants to to sct can purchase the software). My CMR tuned chip with a street tune was around $450, which is not pricey for the level of customer service, and that they will flash and re-flash your program until the set-up is superb, and is included in the original price.
With cmr you have more options than just the delta chip(diablosports encryption), like the D3 chip(factory encryption),
and a chip that can hold 4 different programs on it at once for different enviroments(altitutde/heat changes), or complete one off tunes(on-site).

Noticed a difference in midrange power, throttle response, and my exhaust note sounds a little beefier now.

That's your opinion, just as SCT has been and continues to be the hottest is my opinion.

SCT can be mail ordered or on site tuned (or both!) Minimally upgraded cars are great candidates for mail order tuning. Why do you consider this option a liability?

The ability for the average tuner to buy this software is a plus! This product puts the power usually reserved for dealers in the hands of the end user. You can make you own changes and reburn your own chip (or upload to the handheld tuner.) Add to this, the SCT Raptor Datalogger and the Innovate MotorSports LM-1 A/F Ratio Meter (these aren't cheap, but they aren't 'toys' either, like the DiabloSport Predator - it's datalogging abilites are a joke) and you can, with complete confidience, modify your tune anyway you want. Even without the A/F R meter and datalogger, wanna quickly change your two step rev limiter to launch at 5K, then top out at 6700 down the track? - no problem, right in your garage. Again, why do you consider the option to buy the software a liability?

The SCT holds 4 tunes as well and gives you COMPLETE control of the ECC.
Look, I'll be honest - I don't know the newer CMR tuning that well. This is what Diablo needed to do (offer custom tuning), and it's what SCT has already been doing for a few years. But CMR, IMO, is not the hottest thing - just the newest.
SCT has a great network of users and tuners who help each other with their abilities to tune and can and do share this info.
If you purchase the SCT Pro Racer's Package from www.modulardepot.com, you get access to their 'members only' forum where help, opinions, options, tuning advice, etc.
