surging idle problems

i got 88 mustang. 5.0 ..aod..it has a surging idle problem then sometimes when idling it wants to die anyone thoughts on what that could be..sensor..no lights on the dash is on..which i know might not mean something is wrong...sometimes it will idle out and run smooth..then it starts up again...off and on again...i hope someone else had this problem...and got it fixed..thanks...

My 88 does this on warm starts only, and it stops after a few surges then doesnt surge anymore till I shut it off and start it back up. I can start it up warm and take off, shift through all the gears and drive it 5 miles, then when I put it in neutral it will surge a few times then idle fine. If I knew how to fix this I would, but its not a big deal to me. Give more details of when it does it. Have you cleaned the TB and IAB?

Jerry is right on. dont forget to clean up the 'salt and pepper' connectors - that can help a lot, especially if the look like the bottom of your shoe.
