well I will try and make this as simple and straight foward as I can.
I hadnt driven the car in 3 months, it just sat there. I brought it out of hibernation and drove it 110 miles no problems, on a sunny day with the temperature at 80deg F. as I was climbing the mountain the car started surging. I got off on an exit and as I slowed down the car died. I pulled off of the road and tried to start the car, no dice. I listend to the fuel pump and it sounded sick so i replaced it when i got the car home.
that didnt fix the problem. I put on a Fuel pressure regulator and the pressure is at 40psi. I replaced the plugs, checked the resistance on the wires, checked the timing, replaced the fuel filter, changed the oil, checked the ground(engine), alt is charging
now when i drive the car it jerks, or surges. looking at my A/F meter (autometer) when the car surges the car goes from stoich/rich (in the upper portion of stoich) it leans out of the fraction of the second. as the car starts going again it like it never happened. it only does this when the engine is under load over cruising (more than half throttle).. and it seems to do it more when the RPM inceases.
tomorrow I will repace the cap and rotor, and the plug wires if it doesnt fix it
well thanks for reading.
dieter.
