Kettering. OH
I started driving my car again a few months ago and when I'm cruising I get a bit of a surge, the lower the rpm the worse it got. Throttle response suffered too. It had been so long since I drove it last that I couldnt remember when it started doing this. Well after replacing many parts to no avail I finally figured it out. I had previously taken off the egr solenoid and thrown it in the trash because I didn't have the egr valve hooked up anymore. Well I hooked it back up, but just ran a vacuum line straight from the intake to the egr valve. Well, I took my friend's egr solenoid and ran vacuum from intake to the solenoid then from the solenoid to the egr valve like its supposed to be. Car runs like new!!! Throttle response is awesome and it feels like it has more power. If anyone has surge problems, check how your vacuum lines are routed.

Above is correct. The car should have idled and performed like poo with the EGR always open.

Glad you got it.

Hmmm ... this may be of use for me in my struggle against the impossible Satanic possession my car is suffering. Having similar symptoms, although I'm not running an EGR delete setup. One of the few things left I haven't already replaced. Many thanks...
