Suspension and Steering ????

I have a 66 Coupe 289 with manual steering and brakes. My question is, when I drive it it seems like the front end is really loose and wobblely. I know there is a difference between newer cars and older, but should it be that noticible? The suspension is all original except the shocks. I imagine the ball joints and tie rods need replaced but want to make sure. The steering also has alot of play in it. It has 205/60/14 tires with 14" rims. Could the softer sidewall be an effect? If I don't have to sell her , I plan on doing a whole front suspension and steering rebuild, but wanted to see if this is even safe to drive sometimes? I've owned her for 8years now and is always garaged!

The pony will be back in the grille. It was only held on by one bolt and didn't want it to fall out.

Original Cali car, Sahara Beige with Black standard interior, ms, mb, A/C. 289 A-code with C4 auto.

Currently has: Holley 6150 series 600cfm 4bbl, Edelbrock 289 Performer intake, MSD coil and wires, Pertronix Ignitor, Hedman headers, 2 1/4" duals with Flowtech Raptor mufflers, 4-row radiator.

Thanks! I've heard about the screw. Does it have a hex nut around it so it doesn't move? I'll check for sure. Yeah a complete Suspension and brake system is in the planned future! I know when I got her 8 years ago she handled the twisties smoothly!!! Is the Mustangs Plus kits good? Or are others just the same, but cheaper?
