Hey guys, Just wondering if anybody could advise me on as to which Lowering Springs, Shocks, and Struts are the going to be the best for my money. I have a 00 GT. Thanks!!
there is no "best" option out there. you need to look at what you want outta the car. road racer, drag racer, fun on the streets, budget performer? which one will it be? i went with budget performer so i chose Tokico Premium shocks/struts. they perform great and were affordable for me. Bilsteins are one of the best around, but theyre expensive. Strange makes a good adjustable shock/strut. as far as springs, how much of a drop do you want? what kind of ride quality? harsher or more stockish feeling? let us know your plans for the car first

well if you want logevity I would run bilsteins. if you want cost I would run tokico.

I would do either bilsteins and h&r. or I would run the tokico hp kit of ebay.

tokico hp shocks and springs kit ~$390

bilsteins with H&R ~$680

bullit suspention is either 3/4 or 1" that is not enough if lower for looks at all.

chepest of the cheap option would be mach 1 shocks and struts with ford springs.

Yeah, you gotta figure out if want drag suspension or road suspension. Bilsteins and HR springs are awesome....but probably not so good for drag racing. If you want that, look for some drag racing specific suspension or something adjustable. Can't really have the best of both worlds though, but you can find something that is "okay" in both worlds.

:nice: My sentiments exactly. It is a street car, but you want dynamicly stable, fast, and comfortable, comparable to stock. My car is quiet, smooth, hooks, and handles without unnecessary NVH. Never go towards extremes on a street car, balance is key! Maximum Motorsports and Ford Racing will meet those needs.

True - the Mach 1 setup is a bargain, with the shocks and struts going for about $165 (that's for all 4!) and the springs for about $150.
On mine, I just did the Mach 1 springs, but it didn't have enough drop, so I shaved 1/2 a coil off the rear and 3/4 of a coil off the front. That gave me a drop of .75" in the rear and 1.25" in the front with all the isolators in. Now I just need to add some shocks and struts - I may go with the Mach 1 setup..but I'd prefer to put Illuminas in.
To all those who may say I just trashed my springs and f'd up my handling, you have no idea. It's just a bit firmer than it was with the OEM springs, doesn't even come close to being ricer bouncy, drives straight and nice and flat through the corners.
Here's mine with the new springs installed:

Speaking of getting a Suspension, what exackly is required?

I was about to get springs, but then I read that I "might" need Struts and Shocks, then someone mentioned MM Caster / Camber Plates will be needed.

Can anyone shed some light on what exackly is required when getting the lowering springs ?

Anymore than a 1 inch drop and you'll likely need CC plates - yeah, get the Maximum Motorsport ones - good stuff. You don't need Struts and Shocks, but you'll find the OEM ones will wear quicker. I put my springs on, I need CC plates, but haven't done so yet (next month..it'll live til then) and will likely do new struts and shocks then as well.
