SVO vs T-Bird

I was just wondering if the LA3 computer from the T-Bird would be able to be used on my 85 SVO that has the PJ computer. If so what difference would I notice? Does the LA3 have more performance settings or something? I found the LA3 in a junkyard and I grabbd it. Thanks for the info.

Heck ya it will but like the Doc said the LA3 uses the 35lb injectors where our car uses the 30lb injectors that is of course yours is a older 85 SVO. Then you need to drill a ACT sensor in the lower intake which is really easy or a machine shop will do it for like 30.00. Now if you got a FMIC you can mount it some where else but it needs to be inbetween the IC and the motor. The sensor is like 23.00 MotorCraft and you have to rewire like 4-5 pins on your harness. Heres a link that tells you how to do it, the whole thing should take a few hours since you have to swap injectors.

I'm about to do this also and my problem is since my intakes are off why not upgrade to the newer sqaure ones etc etc lol I will be posting some lower intake pic on my site soon and it will have the ACT sensor shown also.

dang could somebody tell me i know it already says it somewhere and even in this thread but i have a 1985 Turbo Coupe but the injectors looked like brown tops. do i have 35# injectors.

If they are brown then yes they are 35lb injectors. Two things could be going on here, your coupe could be a 85.5 which is nice or someone swaped them in there.

There is something on these instructions that I dont guite understand. It says, for example, to swap the purple wire in pin #32 to pin #31 for boost control. Does that mean to totally switch the two wires around like they are trading places or does it mean to put the purple wire from pin #32 in pin #31's spot and leave pin 32 open? I just wanted to make sure before I did this. Also, it says to move the yellow wire with the red stripe to pin #24's spot for the octane switch. So what happens to the #30 spot? I guess I need clarification for the whole set of instructions. I just dont want to mess all of the wiring up. Thanks

Sorry about not responding sooner...been messing around with the V6/V8 Guys. They got this how Mustang on Mustang hate deal going on

Anyways...I haven't done this swap just yet you may want to email GT350 or Stinger. This is what I think though...You just unplug number 32# from the connector and replug it to the number 31# spot leaving 32# empty. This also aplys to 30# pin leaving it empty as well. If there is a wiring going to it I think you just cover it up but double check that.

I really wonder if you run a manual boost valve if you don't have to swap these pins but just unplug them. Since on a manual you no longer use the stock boost control and I think the fuel switch no longer does anything for you. Now that is just a B.S Theory from me :D

Good luck on it and let me know how it goes :nice:
