Is this confurmed?

http://www.planetblueoval.com/ford/legendary_svt_o_1_000632.asp

This could be the dumbest thing they have done since the Edsel, all I can hope is that it is just not true.

The only question I ask is "do they really want to turn out like GM?" inches from bankrupcy?

If it really is true, it sucks!!!
We have never had any intentions of selling our 94 Cobra, but if that's true, I know it will be sticking around for sure, no matter what.

It better not, as it would be in very poor taste to put something like that up without letting the reader know at the end it's a joke. I'm sure a few people are using it to try to get top dollar for the SVT car they are selling, it could cause people to overpay thinking they are buying the last of the SVT cars.

I hate the GT500 Shelby

This whole "retro" stang thing is getting way out of hand IMO. Kudos to Ford for putting out a Mustang that will appeal to the retiring baby boomers but badging an SVT engineered Stang a GT500 Shelby is simply ridiculous. It would be better if it was just the 2007 SVT Mustang Cobra. Shelby did alot for Ford and the Mustang in the past, yes, but if his organization didn't build this car from the groud up it's really not a "Shelby" anyway. Newsflash for Ford: The car itself is good enough to sell at $40-50K being a 475 hp supercar, you didn't need to put stripes on it and cheap GT500 badges to spur sales. Getting rid of SVT and the subsequent performance image it gave to Ford's many vehicle lines will prove a big mistake.

well, April 1, 2006 is the first day of the second quarter for the year.

The thing I find FUNNY is that every other car manufacturer is now ramping up their "Special Vehicle" equivalent divisions to copy Ford and the success of SVT, and then Ford turns around and dismantles SVT. I mean, even the new Z06 vette is using the same SVT hand built engine assembly line copying the Cobra's now.

I have more proof. SVTOA is being taken over by FRPP read it here.
http://www.svtoa.com/

My Cobra just came off the market.

At least they went out with a bang, contrary to how most detroit legends die. Ever seen the last shelbys?

IMHO the 2nd gen Lightning and and the 2000 R were the last SVTs. OK maybe the termanator too.

Point is, thee 99 cobra debacle was the beginning of the end.

When the 07 debuted, I thought it was weird how "flashy" the car was and supposedly an SVT. For example the cartoonishly big snakes on the fenders.

Today is a sad day for all American performance car fans. Godspeed and see you on the other side.

yeah i hear the whole "cobra" logo will be gone also. Fortunately there is a happy side to this story, our Cobras will soon be desired by collectors down the road. And that's why my 97 ain't goin nowhere!
