I have this switch NOS and the box looks late 80's vintage or early 90's.

SW-1744-B
E6FZ-11572-A

Is this the one that burns down cars and has been superceeded?

I dont want to install it, i want to sell it. But if this is the "bad" one perhaps its better off in the trash. Looking for a copy of the Ford recall as it usually lists what part numbers in Ford inventory to scrap

Looks like that is the bad one. New part is SW-2474 which would be the recall-fix switch.

Looks like that one is a fire-starter

I think the issue is the fingers holding the metal frame to the plastic portion would fatigue over time and spread allowing the two halves to separate. When this happens, the connections loosen and become higher resistance and heat up.

This one is actually tight, so i'm sure it would work for a while. Obviously I don't want to risk it nor have someone else install it.

I've actually seen folks put zip ties around the newer replacements just in case.

I have a brand new one stashed away too, now I need to dig it out to check the part number.
