guys im new to this forum and i purchused a 1995 3.8 mustang really cheap
and since it has a blown motor ive decided to swap a 5.0 in
the motor i am getting for the car is a 1993 Thunderbird 5.0 EFI with about 50k on the clock
my questions are
1.what wiring harness's will i need to purchuse to get the car running
right now it has the v6 wiring will this work as far as under the dash goes?
2.i plan to swap a 5 speed in since the engines a 93 should i buy a 93 5.0 5speed computer or a 94/95

Do a search for Sorscode and you'll find his web site where all your v6-v8 conversion swap questions will be answered.

you'll need stuff like a V8 cluster, a 94-95 computer, 8.8 rear end, the complete harness that goes into the 94-95 computer. The harness from the t-bird will work but there will be some modding to do. The tbird doesn't have an electric fan and some other small things. I'd get the complete harness from a 94-95 Mustang to keep it simple...

yea i would check on the websites you can find quite a bit about diff. people who posted all the work with pictures on websites from a 3.8 to 5.0 swap. I think you also need to replace the front fan and if you can i would try to get all the accessories with that engine just in case. like p/s pump and etc. If you are swappin in a t-5 then you need to look on the net for a website also they give you in-depth descriptions with pics. Good Luck

I'd get a 94-95 harness, not a 93

This is not a very hard swap at all. I did my '94 with a complete '94 GT engine (that included the engine harness and computer harness). You will need the 5.0 computer, bellhousing and clutch (if using a T5; I don't know about the aode), ccrm (module on the bracket with the overflow bottle), throttle cable, the TAB/TAD/EGR modules (behind the passenger's side inner fender panel), V8 throttle cable. Killer (Paul) is right on though. Definitely check out w w w .sorscode.com. Danny helped me out with mine and he has done quite a few of these. If you can get the engine and car for a good price, it is a very worthwhile swap for the money. Mine still has the original 7.5 rearend with 3:73's with T-Lok and T5 tranny, and it is living fine right now. But I have not really hammered on it a lot, like at the strip, so that may be the reason that the 7.5 is still alive. Good luck and let me know if I can help you any with your swap.

I have not driven a 94-95 GT to compare the swap to. Needless to say, that the 5.0 (with a few parts that are in my sig) runs like a bear compared to the 3.8.

This is how the engine was shipped to me from Michigan. All the other parts were in a separate box.

The 3.8 before the swap

The 3.8 is gone---5.0 on the way

The finished product (minus the radiator cover; it's still not on yet either!). It's not the prettiest engine bay, but it meets my expectations for performance and all that.

Sorry I don't have any really good technical pics as far as during the swap. It is really straight forward though. If you have ever pulled and reinstalled an engine, then you can do this swap. This was only the 2nd time I had pulled an engine, but I did this one all myself. Good luck and let me know if you need some pics of the computer harness or anything like that, I have another one in the shop waiting for another day (hehehe!)

Damn that looks pretty good. i wish i would of swapped in a v8 into my 98' coupe. I don't really like the convertible as well. I liked the blue a little better then the black but i had 17" x 9" rims on my blue 98' stang. it looked pretty badass but was a v6. I would of been happier with it then my 95 gt.
