I thought it was going to be the lack of honey bees resulting in the loss of 2/3 the food crops and us getting colon cancer because of the consumption of 'low bulk', industrial no turd foods.

Oh wait, we're already doing that.

We're all gonna die! *runs around flailing arms in panic*

So far, we haven't had any appearances of it here in AZ, yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Hell, right here where I work should show the first cases because we get all the illegals for the whole area and we're right close to the border.

Symptoms of the swine flu include a fever over 100*F, cough, sore throat, vomiting, and compulsive urges to mate with frogs named Kermit and wallow in one's own filth.

What really sucks about this deal is that Mexico's government is so screwed up and their general third-world-country way of doing everything is only helping the virus spread that much more rapidly. These people aren't exactly known for their sparkling healthcare facilities, for one, and their whole government rife with corruption, dysfunction, and general incompetence makes ours look positively Utopian by comparison. If this had cropped up first in, say, Iowa or someplace else in the U.S., it would be difficult enough to contain, but having a cesspool like Mexico as the starting point and all these people ALREADY pouring into our country through our poorly-guarded southern border ... ugh. If this really does balloon out to be as bad as they make it, it could be every bit as bad as the 1918 pandemic (or worse).

Good luck keeping the Mexicans out of Texas, then ... or Arizona, or California, or any other state, for that matter. We don't have to come to them to get a dose of swine flu - they'll gladly come to us. I can hardly wait until the first bunches of these people start marching right on up into my hospital and start infecting everyone else while they all hang out in the ER waiting room.

I heard once that most of these infectous diseases could be controlled by washing your hands 3 times a day.

I read something the other day saying this isn't the first round for swine flu and that it was decided back in the '70s that it wasn't a major threat.

I've got some kind of flu right now and i feel like total crap.

I've seena nd heard figures ranging from 75% to 95% of ALL disease could be eliminated with hand washing.

I'm guessing 75% with just hand washing, and 95% with proper hand washing when needed.

This is another stupid attempt of the media trying to scare the public and look at the chaos it has caused. People walking around with masks on their faces....makes me laugh.

This is just like any other flu I don't know why people are freaking out, there's always that time of the year when you get sick and miss a week of work and when you go back you find out 5 other people were out sick too because there's a flu going around and it seems like the whole city is sick, then poof, it goes away.

First of all I'm not flaming anyone over here, it's just venting!

It's sad that people think all mexicans are f'ed up. I know there are thousands of well-educated, clean, respectful mexicans out there. But of course there are plenty of mexicans with lots of areas of opportunity. Sometimes I do envy (in a good way) how clean the streets, hospitals, government offices are in the U.S.

Anyways, getting to the point I agree with the statement above: "...infectous diseases could be controlled by washing your hands 3 times a day." My life sux right now because some a$$ didn't do this. I used to work in the Engineering Department at Ford's Hermosillo, Mexico Assy. Plant (where Fusion/Milan/MKZ are made) and the cafeteria/restaurant really stinked there...

Last september I was going to Glasgow, Scotland to study my MSc in Engineering Desing. I got married in order to apply for the student visa and take my wife with me, and then quitted my job. But a week before departing I started feeling bad, and I was diagnosed with Hepatitis A. The doctor that I went to, said it was because someone where I ate didn't wash their hands and you can imagine the rest... I only ate at Ford, 'cause dude... I almost lived there.

Then the global crisis came in those dates and I've been jobless ever since. Thank God I was diagnosed here in my hometown, and not in the UK. At least I'm close to my family and I got some savings to keep it going while I get a job again.

Anyways c'est la vie, I hope I've learned something outta this.
