I have disk brakes on the front but have drum brakes in the back...should I take my time to replace those with disk too or just not worry about it? Will certain rims not fit around the drum brakes?
I think all rims fit the drum brakes. I have only heard of disks brakes requiring larger wheels.
The necessity of rear brakes has been hammered here a bunch but IMHO....I think rear disks are a safer upgrade.
Now if drum brakes are well maintained, you are doing normal street driving and no road racing in the future, then stock will rock.
If larger wheels are in order and more spirited driving is in order the rear disks will fit the bill better. Who wants a rear drum to be poking out some Torque Thrust rims when a painted caliper and shiny disks will get the juices flowing.
My main point is do what also makes you happy with your car!!!! A 170 cu C4 will get you around town and the state with great reliability. But most folks want the 347 stroker motor and the T5.
As a guy that has an interest and who has done the conversion with Ultrastang’s rear disk conversion kit, I prefer the disk.
