Switching to IRS. Driveshaft length?

Is there a difference in driveshaft length between the solid axel and the irs? If so, what do I need to buy?

Try posting it in the SVT section. Not a lot of GT's running around with IRS over in this section.

That's a good idea, don't know why I didn't think of it. Maybe I should ask myself whether magnapacks would be better than magnaflows.

Yes, bought one this morning. Seems like it should be easy to find someone. Of course, you can only count on being up to your ass in raincoats on a sunny day.

i would change it out if you want to drive down to s.c. i have the shop to do it and could have you back on the road the same day

The driveshafts are the same.

The only reason you'd have to change the D/S is if you went with a different trans.

For Ex. The 03+ Cobra D/S is shorter than the GT's. That's the one you'd need if you decided to go with the T-56.

The driveshaft on the IRS is shorter. If you look in the SVT forums you will see that most people that buy a Aluminum Driveshaft get the GT one and have it shortened.

Absolutely correct! I have a 03 Gt and made the swap earlier this summer. I had to use the Cobra driveshaft. It's about an inch shorter. I also swapped exhaust with my doner and I have to say I love the flows..

At first I had an auto GT and when we did the swap we just swapped the yokes on the driveshafts and i got the cobra shaft with the auto yoke... I got BAD vibrations so I decided to buy a new GT Automatic shaft and it went on pefectly... no play... nothing

then i changed the transmission to the t45 and I used the manual driveshaft that i got stock with the tranny... it fits perfectly and i have no play... so in conclusion i have to say that the driveshaft should still fit


And bout the exhaust... I love my Mac Catback with BBK o/r h pipe... it's really calm in the down low, but once i start rowing those gears... oh man the world's coming to an end
