Is there a way to reset SYNC or just delete the phone and re-add it?

Yes, but be aware there are some Sync problems with newer cars.
It is a software issue that Ford has tried to fix but not been totally successful with.

Sync Reset

There is a Fuse that needs to be pulled, the fuse panel is located in the passenger foot well. Pull sync fuse for 5-10 minutes (look in manual for fuse location). This will fully reset the sync system. I also would take it down to your local dealer and have them install the latest Sync update.

My wife has had problems with her phone on a 2011 Fusion. Same make and model of phone works fine on my 2010 Mustang. My wife's car also sometimes does not recognize her ipod though my car will recognize the same iPod. She has had the update (the car, not her personally). There are still some problems. I would think Bluetooth should be pretty universal. It is also odd that an older car works while the newer does not.
Sync is great when it works properly. Ford needs to fix this. It would keep me from getting a newer model.

My sister had a sync/phone problem in her '12 Explorer Limited. Would not connect. Dealer removed her phone completely from sync, removed the phone battery, reloaded the phone into the truck....no issues now. This was after two weeks of the phone working good after purchasing the Explorer.

Ummm... then it's really not working! If she's not eligible for a phone upgrade and she's unwilling to purchase a proper phone then only thing you can try is disconnecting the battery for about an hour, this hard reboot should wipe the memory entirely clean hopefully clearing any data corruption from outside devices.

Same issue, there are only 25 phones that 100% compatible with SYNC and MyTouch. I reboot 4 -5 each day. Ford finally recontracted Microsoft (Ford got cheap and attempted to do it on their own) to make one final software update hopefully coming out in January. I'm tired of the whole thing.

AHHHH HAAA
1) The problem is hers is set as the secondary phone I guess. It wont recognize hers when yours is in the car too. Both phones in car at the same time yours as the primary will have to be turned off to read hers.
2) If they are the exact same phone perhaps the system is have a "brain fart"

Well then you have a non compatible phone so your only choices are to upgrade the phone or perform a hard boot by disconnecting the battery for an hour

Hey 2011_Ram_RT,

PM me your VIN, along with the phone type and carrier, so I can work with my In-Vehicle Technology team on your issue.

Hi stanmckinney!

I responded to your other post, but I'll copy it here to make sure you see it. Which HTC phone do you have, and what's the carrier? Also, does the Fusion have Navigation? I'll work with IVT on yours as well. Thanks!

I just got off the phone with the SYNC center. I did a master reset and repaired the phone . I have a 12 for 8 weeks and the phone worked fine until today, the phone is an HTC EVO 4G.

Unfortunately you're going to continue to have issues. If you schedule an appointment with your dealer they can try an upgrade most likely some or all of the fields are empty and they need to click the check boxes and add "NULL" file but again this will only be temporary. If the EVO 4G is a compatible phone hopefully it will last a few more short months.
SYNC gen 1 was designed by Microsoft and is virtualy bullet proof, MyTouch was done in house by Ford and so far it pains me to say it has been an epic fail. Ford has recontracted Microsoft and they expect a final permanent patch to be available sometime in January. I'm crossing my fingers! I feel for you and all my customers but be patient the fix is coming.

I am a patient person and can wait until January. However if they can't fix the problem and my patience wares thin, Ford is the party that will be unhappy. I can be and have been in the past, a VERY litigious person with access to virtually free legal representation.
