Recently when shifting into 2nd it almost seems like the shifter is getting "stuck" on something. It doesn't do it when I'm shifting hard but if I'm just cruising it feels like it's sticky. It's a mushy feeling, not solid almost as if there is a piece of rubber that I'm pulling against to go into gear. Is it the synchro?

You might want to look at your tri-ax. After putting mine in I guess I didnt tighten down the stop bolts all the way, well they rattled loose and I lost 2nd, 4th, and reverse one night. I got stock in the middle of a parking lot blocking cars and had to call my girlfriend and have her bring me my tools so I could fix it(thank god she brought what I asked for). It sounds like that could be the problem since it doesnt happen when you shift hard, check it out before taking it to a shop.

If its a getting stuck kinda feeling its most likely a bent shift fork. If it breaks you won't be able to go into that gear. If its a mushy feeling It might be a blocker ring. If it grinds which you didn't say it was is probaly a synchro.

Blocker ring as in something that prevents you from going into a gear (like the 1st gear above 10MPH block)?

It feels like it's getting stuck but it's a mushy stuck. It doesn't grind.

I am having the exact same problem. It makes it real hard just to cruise around at slow speeds. I don't have any problems with 4th or rev. And I do grind ever other day or so
