i was talking to my neighbor and he said there is an anti syhon mechanism in the filler neck. i am running on generator power right now and there are very few gas stations that have power right now and even if there is one open the line is a 10 miles long. i have a full tank in the stang. can you syphon gas from our tanks? it could be weeks before we get power backamnit: crapola

You should be able to siphon gas from your gas tank without any problem...I'm not sure what your neighbor is talking about.

some tanks do have anti syphon things in them, dunno about mustangs though.
seriously its a 15 gallon tank, it wont last but 2 days or so, and if you are looking at weeks (its possible, my parents in louisiana did) you need to find you a gas station asap

your neighbor is keeping tabs on your full tank of gas. i would empty it into containers asap. i would also go get more gas. good luck hope it all turns out for the best.

our tanks do have an anti-siphen thing in em.

i used a harder plastic hose and twisted it as i pushed it down in there

you may be able to get a soft rubber hose in there but itll take some work

i tried for at least 45 minutes to get a softer rubber hose down there. I don't know about anti-syphoning mechanisms but it seems like there are 2 lips in the filler neck you have to get past. we finally got in there with a harder black plastic hose

My neighbor is desperate and he tried to get fuel out of my 2003 Taurus with no results. There is something that prohibits the fuel upwards of some sort.

there is definetly something in there blocking the path of the hose. we finally got some gas but we had to take a ride 3 counties north. its getting pretty crazy down here. we might not have power back till nov 22 .

i wish i could. i was on the phone with directtv yesterday and the first available service call is DEC 21 amnit:. on top of that we just signed a new contract with them and they more than likely will want us to pay a fine for canceling serviceamnit:.

we had no luck getting a tube into the tank either. so we got a little more creative. we drilled through my old schrader valve (have a fuel pressure gauge there) and screwed it in with a rubber tube attached to it. we put the end of the tube in the gas can. then we unhooked the ccrm and put 12v to the pin that runs the fuel pump. between the 255lph in tank and the t-rex, we filled a 6 gallon can in about 5 minutes. kind of a moot point since you have power back, but in the future, that works perfectly with absolutely no mess and minimal work.

Miami-Dade should have full power back by the 8th of November (at least South of Kendal drive will). More and more gas stations have opened up and the lines are getting some what smaller and moving faster.

well that explains a lot. when i was going to change the fuel pump, i went to siphon out the gas and couldnt get the tube into the tank no matter what i tried. i was pissed. so i just drove around the block 100 times trying to run low on gas. now i dont feel like such an idiot

Wouldnt disconnecting the fuel filter work? Once you do that, you could keep priming the engine right? I would imagine that would work and just run the hose into a gas container.

i dont know if id do that, the gas would come out really fast, and not that much at a time. but if your desparate, who knows what people will do. too bad they dont have a drain plug like my 65 stang, that makes it too easy. but then again, thats the difference between new and old cars isnt it.
