I just bought a tranny from a swap meet. I thought it was a t-45. But it has a 01' written on the side. I have read that the t45 was replaced by the tr-3650 half way through 2001. I have an extra clutch disc left over from my t-5. This left over clutch disk fits spline on the input shaft of the trans i just bought. The tag on the trans has these numbers on it...
res-aa J2973
1381-00
79ZR-7003-AC
84492K
I cannot find any such numbers on the internet on which tranny i actually bought. This trans is going in a 88' MOD FOX conversion project. These numbers are on the side of the trans on a tag... are there any other numbers on the trans i should look for??????
If the shifter from my t-5 fits on this new trans... is it a t-5?? maybe?
what size clutch goes on this trans in question?? 10.5in or 11in??
thanks for all help!!!

if the drain plug is on the bottom it is a T-3650 if it's on the side near the bottom it's a 45..

if your shifter bolts up and works it's a T-45

t-5 shifter fits... Ths trans must be a t-45. What clutch disc goes to this tranny?? the 10.5in? i had a spec 2 clutch in my 5.0 with a t-5. The pedal was soooo stiff! what clutch should i go with since this is going to be a street car with the DOHC 4.6 and maybe a 8psi procharger in a couple years. I was told to get a king cobra clutch... since i dont want to have a bulging left leg after driving my car every time.

a 10.5 is the clutch those came with from the factory. you could upgrade to a cobra 11 inch clutch.

I recommend the King cobra clutch. It is a 10.5" clutch if you aren't looking for an 11 inch kit, pedal feels great (light) and it grabs hard. This is the Ford PN M-7560-C302

Maybe i'm just a weakling, but every King Cobra clutch i've felt was stiff as hell. I honestly don't think I could drive a car with one, just too stiff for my taste. But I guess that's how all aftermarket ones are

KIng Cobra...sounds like thats the clutch that i will go with. Since everybody and their brother has one. And they are sooo much cheaper than a spec 2. Thanks for the info guys!! Now i need a flywheel. Does anybody have one laying around? I am putting a 4.6 dohc in my 88. The motor is out of a mark VIII. But it is still in the car so i dont know what bolt pattern it is.. i think they come in 6 or 8 bolt. I dont know how many bolt holes that crank has? And i need a clutch fork...
thanks guys
tony
