T-45 Shift Knob fit 1979 SROD?

Anyone know if a T-45 shift knob from a later model Stang like a 2000

will fit a 1979 SROD tranny?

I'm guessing that it probably won't. The tread on the T45 shift knob is metric, 12mm. I'm thinking the tread on a tranny fron '79 won't be metric, but I could be wrong

The 12mm size fits T-5s as far back as 1983 ...

Just not sure if they threaded the SROD handle the same ...

There is a Ford Racing tech sheet for installing a Tri-Ax here:

It suggests that the Tri-Ax bolts up to the T-5, T-45 and SROD equally well.

But, I called the Ford Racing hotline and they said that's not true. Also, I've read that SROD had a three-bolt mounting for the shifter, not the 4 bolts used on T-5 / T-45 and Tri-Ax.

Anyone know if the SROD was 12mm shift knob?

They had metric TRX wheels/tires back then ...
