T-5 Conversion, Clutch Question

I am in the middle of a t-5 conversion and am in the process of attaching the clutch assembly to the Fly wheel on my 289 (28 oz). I am using a stock 5.0 clutch 10.5 inch assembly. Only three of the bolt holes on the pressure plate line up to the flywheel. Is this correct?

You should be getting six holes.

You will need a different clutch, or three more holes.

You need a late model flywheel with a 28 oz imbalance. A modern 10 1/2 diapraghm clutch will not line up with the holes on your old flywheel.

It will also need 10 mm bolts to mount the clutch to the late model flywheel.
Make sure it is 28 oz and not 50 oz flywheel or your engine will vibrate itself to death

If you get a center force from summit it will line up. You also will be much happier with the ease of the pedal.

It is different bolt patterns on the 3 finger 10 inch and the 10 1/2 diaphragm.
If you look at the 10 1/2 inch bolted up to the original 289 flywheel with only 3 bolts you will see it is not centered with the pilot shaft bearing.

if you want to keep your current flywheel, contact centerforce as they have a diaphram pressure plate that directly replaces the long style pressure plate used on the early cars.

You will need to either buy a new flywheel or buy the 10 inch Centerforce diapraghm clutch.
IIRC the Centerforce was around $300 when I was deciding which way to go.
I went with the new flywheel and a 10.5 inch King Cobra clutch kit.

Yea, I am just going to buy a new flywheel that accepts the 10.5 inch clutch. That seems to be the easiest answer.
