K well found out my 3rd gear is SHOT, missing like 4 teeth on the bottom gear and few chips on the top gear...when i bought the car i got receipts for the t-5 said 2.95 conversion kit (for 1st gear) and something for overdrive...well i just checked out 5th gear...has 27 on top and 59 on the bottom...thats a .046 ratio ...i looked up the tag number and stock is a .068 5th gear......im checking out 1st gear now to see if it is the 2.95.....I was checking out the gears on the bottom and they are like BLACK Coated....like they were hardened or something...same with the bottom 5th gear also....i guess it wasnt that strong since now like 4 teeth is missing from the one gear .......My question is what should I do...since that shaft is all one piece and the 3rd gear on it is stripped should i buy a complete new gear assembly or would it not be worth it.....I was looking to spend $250 Max...I found a nice rebuild kit with all new bearings, blocker rings etc for 180...but now that i need a new gear shaft thats way over my limit....Whats ur advice? what would u do in my case...and dont say buy a Tremec or G-Force it, if i had the money I would be happy too but i dont and i need to get the stang back on the road so leave ur thoughts :SNSign: Any sites or hook ups would be appreciated too thanks

ur ****ed

no, really.

that shaft from ford is gonna be well over 700 bucks.

check out DD performance and see what they got for ya, you're gonna need a new cluster shaft (the bottom gear shaft) and a new third gear as well (the chips are from the gears banging against the broken gears on the bottom)

my advice would be to start lookin in junkyard and classifieds for a used t5 to throw into your car to get it back up. good luck

First off 5th gear is 0.63 ratio, you forgot to take into account the reduction from the input shaft to countergear.

Hanlon sells the parts you need. Is there a 070 on the countergear? If so, that part will cost you $180 to replace. 3rd gear will cost you $88
