T-5 from a V-6

Will a T-5 from a 99 V6 be a good swap for a 68 coupe, I hope to have 300 to 350hp when I get my engine built...thanks in advance

Bump! Help this new member out.

I have a V-6 tranny in mine from an earlier model (only needed a smaller bearing/bushing in the back of the block for the swap).

Will the '99 work for him?

it will but he is going to have to either get the deeper 94-95 5.0 bellhousing, or change the input shaft to the earlier shaft.

correct...and the v6-v8 t-5's are the same after 1998 i think

the 4.6 v8's didn't use the t5. they went to the t45 in 96 when the 4.6's came out

NO...the bell (and the trans is the same as a 95GT). No need to go changing any of that unless you want to swap it all over to foxbody length, which is 1" shorter. In 99 they eliminated the speedo gear hole, so you're screwed. 94-98 V6 T5s are perfectly useable.

The 4.6 "T5" is an entirely different animal. 4.6 specific bolt pattern, and they actually used the T45 and 3650.

thanks guys for all the help, right now i am trying to get all my ideas strait and see what all is feasable...

i worded it wrong, i meant the sn95 v6 t-5's were the same as the fox 5.0 t-5's
