T-5, i'm about to give up....

I am looking like a mad man and there is not one T-5 to be found in this frickin state. Not cheap anyway, So if someone has a T-5, that they are getting rid of dirt cheap, PM me, i could use the help...

What do you consider "cheap"? I've located several 4-cyl transmissions in the $250 - $300 range in Georgia, Miss, Alabama on Car-part.com. There were a couple on Ebay for <$200 a week ago.

I only have about that much to spend, and that is without a rebuild...plus there is the bellhousing, crossmember, and so forth....maybe this will cost more than I thought...?

Unfortunately, I think it will be very hard to do a T5 swap for $200. Even if you got the transmission for free, the rest of the swap would cost more than that.

Well that is all I can contribute, the parents........i think you get the picture. I have more like $240 to throw around. So Yeah this will have to wait A while. Unless I hear otherwise.

Heh, it cost me $250 just for the clutch cable assembly! T-5 Cross members are $140. The speedometer cable it takes (to make the connection from the T-5 VSS to your speedo) is anywhere from $40 to $60 depending on where you buy it.
And you will want to install a new clutch in it unless it already comes with a new one and it's about $130 or so for a whole kit.
So, your looking at close to $580 for these parts.

As somebody tried to tell me once....take your time and do it slow. Buy what you can afford now and wait until you can get the rest.

Wonder why they call it a T-5? In Germany, a T-5 is a Mustang that was of course imported. They never put a stang badge on it.

I scrimped on my conversion here and there, got what I felt were good deals on certain parts, and it was still ~$800 after totalling receipts. Just FYI.

Well that isn't too bad, It might take me a bit longer but to expect any power from the 6 at all...I would need a manual tranny.

Just don't get discouraged. Get a job. Money flowing in helps. Especially during the summer when you can work full-time.
