T-5 Leak

Absolutley no leaks while driving on the street. Everytime I run the car down the track, I get tranny fluid sprayed all over the cats and the rear area of the tranny. Nothing to the front of the tranny. I have looked and looked, tightened everything that I could, and everything seems fine. I have replaced the rear output shaft seal as well. Someone suggested there is an output shaft bushing that might be worn, and when racing the car, it doesn't do its job hence the rear output shaft seal then leaks? I have no idea. The tranny only has approx. 40,000 miles on it. Any tranny gurus out there or anyone ever seen this happen. Help please!

Did you replace it with a Genuine Ford part? I ask because I replaced mine with a parts store brand one and it leaked big time......then I got another one......same thing. Finally I went to the dealership and got a Ford one and it has never leaked. You can see the difference in quality.

Interesting suggestion. I spoke with a guy from a tranny shop out your way and he suggested the same thing. I replaced the output shaft seal with a green coloured one from L--dco, tranny guy says get a "better one" as the green ones aren't very good.

Oh, I didn't notice you were from maple ridge, lol. Yeah, the Lordco ones are crap! I was very surprised at how much better the Ford one looked and performed.

How did the yoke look on the driveshaft? Was it worn? If so it doesn't matter what seal you put on there it still would leak.

Another possible leak is from hole where the speedo cable plugs into. I have that leak right now. It only drips so I haven't rush to fix it yet.

I put an aluminum DS in the car so the yoke is fine. I have looked at the speedo cable idea however it is nice and dry around the spot as well. Maverick - you said you were surprised at how much better the OEM seals worked. Did you have a leak problem as well or what do you mean by the seal working much better. Crazy thing is, I only get this leak at the track. Even if the car is run hard on the street - there is no leak. I'm wondering if the shock to the driveline while running ET Streets at the track is causing the leak. I'm frustrated as I pay my entry fee at the track, get one pass, then have to watch for the rest of the night due to the leaky tranny.

just fixed that same problem....it's almost definitely the seal...(did you replace the bushing as well?).... my old seal got a chip in it and leaked...the new one I got...(i dont remember the brand...has a little boot on it that keeps stuff from being able to get in there and nick it....(i think my chip was caused because I'm currently parking on a gravel parking spot...

also...make sure your drive shaft is good and tight..if it gets too much play it it...it'll cause the bushing to warp... and possibly allow the seal to unseat and leak..(this may explain the high rpm/speed occurence of the leak....
(this was what happened w/ same problem on my old AOD)..

Same problem i had with my 02 GT, when i got on it and caused high rpms it would leak out of the yoke seal.
