2 questions

1. The speedo gear= when you remove it and then replace it should you put RTV around the hole before bolting it in?

2. When you look at your transmission from inside the car should it not be centered? Mines offset to the right...?

The speedo cable has an O-ring on it, you should not have to put RTV on anything, but if you still dont trust it it wont hurt. Yes the tranny offsets to the right a little, it does it a lot more in 79-83 mustangs originally equipped with an SROD.

Hmm...thanks. I didn't put any RTV on there because i didnt see any around the hole after i removed it however, i didn't even check the O-Ring condition. Only way to find out is to look for a leak i guess. One last stupid question...what kind of tranny fluid do you put in it? ATF?

Dextron Mercon III. I hate when people just say ATF because this is not correct.

And I hate it when people call it Dextron because this is not correct, it's actually called Dexron. Just kidding with ya! You are correct, saying ATF could confuse someone into using the old Ford Type F.

SYnchromesh is not recommended for the T-5 because it causes the paper linings in the synchros to swell. It will feel great, but the wear rate is accelerated slightly.

Mercon/D3 only
