T-5 Rebuild

I'm going to be rebuilding my T-5 soon. And I was wondering if I can use any rebuild kit made for a T-5. Are our trannies any different than the 5.0 of the same year besides the power rating? I'm going to be putting a stronger gear set in as well. Am I going to need any special tools? If so, what? Also could I go find a T-5 out of a 5.0 and bolt it up to mine without having to modify anything.

Yes, the t-5 is the same. you should be able to bolt one up from a GT without too much problems.

personally, I wouldn't go tearing apart a tranny if I didn't know what I was doing. Too many small parts in there

You know where all the clutches/bands/bearing/ go?
