does anyone know of an instruction manual, or service book like chiltons that explains step by step exactly what needs to be done and how to do it considering the aod-e to T-5 swap...also where i might be able to order it? im seriously considering it, but cant afford the labor if i do(cant find anyone that will do it for any less than a grand plus parts) and i would like to be completely confident that i can do it and do it right before i spend a grand plus on the trans and swap parts...thanks

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords had it a few years ago. I used a Haynes manual, studied up on removing AOD-E, installing clutch/manual trans, did it by myself in the driveway, no problem, took about 10/12 hours. Only thing, of the top of my head, is cutting out the trans tunnel, no big deal though, just Dremel about 1/2 inch from the forward side. Go for it, "Holla" if you need any help.

Get all the parts you need for a 94/95 ONLY. Otherwise you'll end up working much harder. Pull the starter and DS out. Remove the shifter and speed control and all wires and cooler lines from the trans. Remove the auto trans at the bell, remember to remove the view plate at the bottom of the trans/block and remove the flex plate to torque converter bolts. After the tranny is out, remove the flexplate and blockplate. Now hopefully you have all the right parts including the five speed block plate. Install the flywheel, clutch and PP. Mount the bell to the T-5, put the fork and TB on the trans bearing retainer. Carefully install the trans to the splines (I make one slot at the very top of the clutch and do the same to the spline on the tranny). Once that is bolted up, install the DS.

Now you have to go inside the car and remove the auto pedal set. There are four bolts and it will come out. install the two pedal cluster. Install the cable through the firewall down to the trans. Install the shifter, shifter gasket and boot. Adjust the cable and hook up the speed sensor and reverse lights. Install the starter and exhaust. That's about it. There may be some smaller things that I missed but a average person with any mechanical ability can fix. If you can't do the above, find someone who can but don't go to a trans shop cause they will rape you.

What about a safety lock out switch so someone cant start the car when it's in gear?Is that included in that small harness that goes under the hood?

i dont think so, the harness is capable of it but from what ive read, a neutral safety switch would have to be installed on your own, but no biggie... i thinnk you gotta be pretty retarded if you start it in gear anyways cuz thats a relatively new feature and you dont hear of guys plowing into other cars with the turn of the key, just think! and dont let your g/f drive it (thats actually included in the think part)

there is a hole in the floor where the shifter will come through, it's there allready, just needs to be enlarged a bit, 1/2 inch should do it, on the side closest to the front (it's a square hole). Nothing there to worry about, no wires or anything, just sheetmetal. Hack away and spray some primer on the exposed metal, good to go. Good luck, anything else just ask

When I did mine...I left the auto computer in for a few days, didn't run right, but ran and was driveable. Swapped in the 5-spd puter, no problem's after that. I've heard you can chip the puter, maybe jump some wires, and it'll work, but I'd just put in a factory designated 5-spd puter, done.

You dont need to swap 'puters. Just replace the tranny harness. At least thats my understanding of it.
