Ok, so i changed my gears to 3.73's from 2.73's, so i decided to go ahead and swap out the clutch. pulled out the tranny, swapped the clutch and bolted it back up. Filled it with tranny fluid from the top because it's about impossible to fill via fill plug. my buddy took out the fill plug and crawled underneath to tell me when she was full. put the plug back in and went for a drive, noticed it was leaking fluid. From what i could tell it was coming out of the fill plug so i took it back out and rtv'ed it up real good and put it back in. I don't think it's leaking there anymore, but now it's coming out of the tailshaft and getting on the driveshaft and slinging it up on the underside of the car and exhaust. It doesn't really seem to leak much just driving easy and cruising around. But when i get on the interstate and really get the tranny spinning it gets worse. Is it possible it's just overfilled? did my seal go bad? i already drained it and refilled it once because i was worried i was running low on fluid, but it didn't seem all that low. where should the fluid level be? i had the car as level as possible and the fluid was up to the fill hole. i don't think i'm losing all that much fluid but it's smells terrible and i'd like to remedy the problem. thanks, Matt

The tailshaft seal on your tranny has taken a dump. You may have damaged it when pulling the driveshaft, it's kinda easy to mess up. You'll need to replace that seal to stop the leak.

As to leaking around the fill plug, there is supposed to be thread sealer on the fill plug threads. If that's all gone, it will leak.

On the fill plug, you should really use teflon tape, not RTV. That RTV is going to get everywhere, and make it harder to keep it from leaking next time you take the plug out. It's going to be a mother to get out of all those threads too. You can take a look at the tailshaft seal to see if it looks messed up in any way. There is a good chance that you just have residual transmission fluid hanging around from the original leak. by the way, it's easy to get transmission fluid in the top plug if you use a pump. Not as easy as pouring it down the shifter hole if the shifter is already off. But if the shifter isn't off, it's much easier to buy a little hand pump, and pump it in.

i'll take a look at that seal. i tried teflon tape the first time on that fill plug and it didn't work. but i had B&M trick shift fluid in there, i don't think it's synthetic, but it might have been a little more likely to leak than regular ATF. Just regular ATF in there now so i might try teflon tape again, RTV is a pain for sure. I wish i had a little pump, might be a good investment. Thanks guys.
