I have gotten just about all the parts for the install. The shop installing it mentioned that I needed to get an electronic eqpt to reflash the computer. What exactly is that? Are they speaking of a predator or diablo tuner???? if so that is another 300 to 400 dollars I was not counting on spending..... how else can they reflash the computer once the gears and t-lok are installed...

I just have never heard of having to buy a tuner to reflash the computer when changing gears...

any body has some suggestions????

on older cars, you could swap the speedo gear for a different tooth count. the new cars dont have a speedo gear, its all controlled through the electronics.

yes, you will need to purchase a tuner. SCT or Diablosport will work the best. look into local dyno shops and se what they use so you dont have to buy the other one in the future if you decide to get custom tuned. watch out for used tuners too. if it is locked, you will have to pay about $150 more to have it unlocked.

I was under the impression that certain functions dont require a VIN code exchange .......

shooter, never heard of that. as far as i know, any changes to the ECU locks the tuner to the car. check SCTflash.com to be sure.

you can check and clear trouble codes for any OBDII car though.

hmmmmmm?

I was hoping to turn off* my TCS without the expense of purchasing a tuner module.

will the dealer do that for me on request?

* set to -OFF- at start-up

from the tuners i have talked to, you cannot set the TCS to initially be off. its either stock or always off.

Would a speedcal work for the S197 as it does for the New Edge '99-'04 Cars. Might be a cheaper alternative. Although I preffer a tuner with all of its many functions to a speedcal that has only one purpose?
