So as you guys know, I rock a T-Top car. So one of my biggest worries is that some day I'll smash one of the lids, and I'll have an impossible time finding a replacement.

Well the other day I was shopping at the JY, and I found a '83 GLX with a mint pair of T-Tops. The JY wants 30$ a piece, which is actually a pretty good deal.

The issue is this. The car is actually pretty straight. I've got no means of bringing it home and restoring it, but I feel bad taking the tops off a perfectly restorable car. The interior is shot, and obviously the drivetrain is picked over, but the chassis is good... Just sunburnt paint and light surface rust. Its not a wrecked car. Must just be high mileage.

Anyway, before I ramble on too long, you guys think I should grab the lids? Or leave them there in some vague hope the car will be taken in by some good-natured Fox enthusiast?

I would say TAKE THEM! For $30, you can't go wrong.
I need to look for a pair myself and I would do the same thing if I found a deal like you did.
Don't stress about the JY car.

I wanted to select 3 of the 4 options you have listed. Take the tops because you better believe the next guy will!

If I had a T-top car, I'd be buying up a couple of sets for spares. Worst case, you don't need them and end up selling them 15 years down the road for $1,000 to some collector that needs a minty set.

The otherwise good car is there for a reason- t-top car, maybe its twisted? Or has no title, could be a thousand reasons somebody is virtually giving you parts that, from my experience, you will eventually need. Take the t's, hope you never use 'em.

Yeaaaa, this is what I'm thinking. Best case, they more than pay themselves off in the future.

Does anybody know if there was any difference in T-Tops over the years? I'm curious to know if these will fit in cars as late as the aero nose...

I would pick those up in a heartbeat. I actually have an 83 T-top car that I will be selling soon since I don't want the hassel of the leaky T-tops anymore. Yeah I know I could fix it but I really wanted a coupe and I found one cheap. I did however see an ad in craigslist just last week for a T-top set for $100.

I say take them before the whole car potentially gets crushed WITH the tops in it. If nobody cares to restore it, then at least it can be an organ donor.

Oh, and i never really cared for T tops either

I just like hard tops...no T's or sunroofs or verts for me.
