you can pic up those gears in a package deal off e=bay for 150, don't take this the wrong way, but when you redid it did you set you endplay as per the instructions on the video... You shouldn't have had trouble with it this soon.... just my .02

i think T-5's are a little underratted. They can take a pretty good beating before blowing up, maybe you didnt install something right the last time.

My T-5 is still going after 120 miles with the 418. It seems to get louder every time I drive it tho.

sounds right them, you have 298 rwhp, i just noticed that, between that and a spec clutch if it is anything over a stage one, it is wreaking havoc on your drivetrain. stage 2 and above don't have the spring in the disk i don't think.... that absords the shock of say a powershift etc...


what are you gonna do with it...

i was also gonna ask ifyou checked gear engagement between the gears, you can shim the output shaft as well, to make sure the gears are lined up perfect, and still shim the back side to get the desired endplay....... Tricky stuff to get one just right, i know, believe me i have messed up one of my installs and three shifts later i was missing teeth on gears....

When you say punch it did you just floor it or have you been power shifting? My tranny has seen a lot of WOT with the blower and it is still holding up.

if with the power you are making you keep the t-5, you are gonna have to clutch,pause, shift, pause, release clutch........lol


its not really the hp its the torque, these trannys are rated at 300 for the gt in torque, and you are making around 380 lb ft of torque at the flywheel so..... you are pushing it, there are some other things you can do to strengthen it if you decide to keep it,

I put one together for a friends car he powershifts every shift, has held up about a year and a half.....he only uses 1-4 also cause it's a race car.....but on that one we took every other tooth off the blocker rings, run synthetic fluid in it, and actually put a little preload in it with shims, put it on jack stands and ran it long enough for it to wear together for the track..... has held up good....you gotta remember the specs for the endplay are setup for general automotive use, not really high performance, and under a great deal of torque you get what they call spreading between the countershaft, and third gear, which minimizes how much of the teeth are making contact, they are easy to break when only like a quarter inch of gear is actually meshing vs. the entire thing, 380 lb ft, and 1/4 inch to hold it don't work...
