I bought a t5 conversion crossmember for my 66 stang that previously had a toploader and am having fitment problems. My car was just painted for the first time in 40 years and has all the original body panels and to my knowledge has never been wrecked as everything lines up perfectly but the new crossmember. Upon installation, the crossmember was 3/8 " off parallel with the t5 mounting boss on the tailshaft. I have had the original toploader out last year and reinstalled with no problems using the stock crossmember, but the new t5 just didn't fit without lots of hassle. I had to "wallow" out the passenger side almost twice the original through bolt size and drill a new set of holes in the driver side to get it to sit parallel. I bought this from Laurel Mountain mustang but the box was california pony parts. has anyone had this much trouble? For a $140.00 I am really disappointed as I basically destroyed any mechanical integrity of this and am considering removing it altogether, cutting off the ends and getting new channel welded on with the holes in the proper location.
