OK, my car's ready to roll...I just need to put some fluid in the tranny. Problem is I'm not sure what kind I should get and how much to put in. I was also told I can put the fluid in where the shifter goes. Is this true?

It simply used automatic transmission fluid and I think you just take the fill plug out of the side and fill it till it is even with the bottom of the hole.....but don't quote me on that since a budy has my shop manual I can't look it up real quick.

Yep, on the passenger side there are two plugs. The one on the bottom is the drain. The upper is the fill plug. Fill it to the bottom of the treads in that hole.

In addition to what the other posters said, you might consider Mobil1 synthetic ATF (Dexron III, I think). The moment I changed from non-synthetic to synthetic I could tell the difference. It doesn't cost all that much more and shifts much smoother. As I recall, it took 3 quarts, but I could be off a bit.

"Street" is correct about where to put the fluid even though it is a pain. This is not done often so go with the best - "Mobil 1".

You will need to go in from the engine bay. It is much simpler that way using a rubber tube.

Yeah just pump atf into it once you see it leaking just let the extra come out of the fill plug hole and then plug it up. It doesn't have to be stuffed full its just a slush box anyways.

Thanks everone. I'll go with the Mobile 1, dump it in, and see how well I did on this project.
