Is the T5 the same in 94-95 as it is 87-93. Is the T5 for a V6 the same as for the 5.0? or is it downgraded like it was for the four cylinder????

Will a T5 from a 94-95 work in my 1990?

The 94-95 trans has a longer input shaft and will not mate properly to a 86-93 5.0 bellhousing.

Will it work if I use the bellhousing from the 94-95?

It will work if you put an 85-93 input shaft and input bearing retainer on it, or if you use a 94-95 bellhousing. The problem with the later is your transmission will sit 3/4" further back than a 85-93 trans would.

so if I use one from a 94-95 i just need to make sure that I use the the bellhousing that comes with it? Then its just fine?

Its not that simple, your transmission will be sitting 3/4" further back, so now you run the risk of your shifter base hitting the transmission tunnel and your drive shaft bottoming out against the tail housing. The best thing to do if your dead set on using a T5 from an SN95 is change the input shaft and input bearing retainer, it would cost a total of about $85 to get a new input and bearing retainer.

May need to shorten the drive shaft also. Although it would be nice to have the shifter back another 3/4".

this is only heresay, but I've read several people who have done the swap using the 94/94 trans with the 94/95 bell. the trans sat back further, but they said the driveshaft fit, barely, but it did, and they didn't have to do any further mods...attempt this at your own risk of course.

You can test for yourself if it's a problem, after installing the 94 trans and bellhousing, with the driveshaft, remove the rear springs. They almost fall out when the suspension is hanging anyway. Once they are out, use a jack to jack up the rear axle as far as it will go. This will push the driveshaft into the tailhousing of the transmission. If you hit the pinion snubber before the driveshaft hits the tailhousing of the transmission you're okay.
