T5 swap done, Now fast/surging idle

T5 swap done, Now car starts then dies.

Well, I got my T5 swap done. Wow, what a different car.

I went with the WC T-5, CF Dual Friction clutch, MGW shifter (very nice piece).

The car drives fine, but now my idle is at about 1000 rpm and it surges around that mark a couple 100 or so.

New info:
When the car is cold, cranks up then dies soon after.

What would cause this? How do I fix it? Can I just adjust the screw near the throttle body? I heard that this would change my TPS setting? It's idle was find before, with no surging idle/stalling.

I can't remember where the car is supposed to idle but where-ever it was before, try adjusting your throttle position and see if the same thing occurs. I wouldn't think this problem would have anything to do with a tranny swap since it's doing it at idle.

Are you saying to adjust the throttle position screw, or the sensor?

I know the car was fine before, so it makes me think that the trans swap has something to do with it.

The clutch NSS is NOT hooked up. It must be bad, because I tried to hook it up and it doesn't work.

The NSS on the trans is NOT hooked up. Could this be my problem? I was told that it didn't need to be hooked up, unless you wanted to pull codes with the engine running. I am trying to break it in before winter and the salt comes, will it hurt to drive it like this?

hey man tell me about the swap, was it too hard, how long did it take?? I am getting ready to swap over myself.

anyway, whats so hard about the pedals. people say they are a bitch, but what exactly is so bad about them...

I need some help here.

Now my car will start up and then shut off in about 10 seconds.

I replaced the IAC and that didn't do anything.

The NSS on the tranny is not connected. In the West Coast Fords write up, they mention driveablity problems may occur if you don't connect it.

Well, I am having driveabilty problems. Do you think this could be it?

The car drives fine, just when it is cold dies after it is started.

I have read that thing 5 times. I only see the IAC talked about when the car dies. I have replaced that.

It never mentions anything about the NSS on the tranny after a T5 swap. I was just trying to rule that out.

The idle checklist seems to talk more about the surging idle than when the car cranks then dies.

sorry, I know ur not asking me , but, putting the pedal in is a PITA just because you'll have to drop the steering column a little and play with the the pedal assembly, it took me a good 30 mins., i think, to put that thing in. goodluck with you swap

the only problem you might run into when you dont connect your NSS is that you might start your car in gear at the wrong time and mess something up, most likely after ti jumps and hit something, mine's not connected, though my car car is still at the body shop at the moment..
