Hello,
I have a couple of questions about the AOD to T5 swap. I am using a Ford Racing Clutch quadrant and cable. I have two questions for you all:

• Where do I route the cable through the firewall? What was the factory hole for routing for factory T5 cars? Did the cable go through where the factory AOD speedo cable hole is?
• Do I clip the clutch cable to the Ford Racing quadrant or does the tension of the cable hold it in place?
• On step 8 of the Ford Racing instructions, it says ‘Carefully remove the clips and springs from each of the two stock plastic quadrant parts’. What are these clips and springs? I don’t have any stock plastic parts….
Thanks in advance!

Well when i did my swap i remember theres another hole one there, but you have to look for it its right next to it its probably pluged. I think on aod the hole that lines up with the quadrant is where the speedometer wire is going through.. I had to switch mine over. It does through where the factory AOD speedo cable hole is. The tension of the cable should hold it in place there like an L at the end where it slips in then the tension of the cable hold it in..And for the last question.. Your right you shouldn't have stock plastic quadrant part because it was and automatic.. but the donor or the pedal you had to install must of had it...so if you don't have it don't worry about it. just install yours... Well this is by the experience ive been.. Might be different for others.. I done 3 swaps..... By the way the BBK quadrant sucks..If you have any more questions feel free to ask . I can try to help..

thanks

Will the auto speedo cable work on the T5? I have the 'clips' from a used pedal assembly I bought but not the 'springs' mentioned in the Ford Racing quadrant installation instructions ...are those actually wave washers or something? Are they necessary?

It speedo cable should work..all you need is the pins that hold the quadrant. not sure what washer you talking about though..

read the link in my sig...it'll explain everything with the swap.

don't use that adjustable cable or quadrant...they're junk.

the adj cables stretch and break. that quadrant is designed only for use with an adj cable.

use the oem non adj cable and get a firewall adjuster and quadrant from maximum motorsports.

I'm with Jeremy. If doing that route, I'd recommend getting the MM universal cable as well (Just get the kit. Even if you don't need the cable right now, a spare is great to have).

On my car (and a few others I've read about) the stock cable didnt quite function properly with the MM quadrant (there was a good bit of preload even with the FWA turned all the way in). I think it comes down to the individual car, build tolerances and other variables.

And for now, the parts you have should do ok. I ran a Ford adjustable cable and SVO quadrant for some years and though it wasn't as buttery as the MM parts, it did fine for me. Jeremy ran just about the same set-up for some time as well.

The MM quadrant will include washers for the quadrant.

Your clutch cable hole might be semi-hidden with aftermarket cables and wires running through it right now. It's a convenient spot to do so.

I ordered the MM kit

I only want to do this once...and right...so I ordered the Max Motorsports kit which includes the quadrant and a new cable. They advertise it as universal, and also factory ford....what was the original application?

Thanks!

The car is very virginal, being the original owner I know the history. The only aftermarket component is a cable through the firewall for the old Lentech OD delete- and this I routed some where else.

It looks like there is a steel indention on the passenger side of the factory Auto speedo cable. No hole, no grommet, just a steel stamping.

their universal cable is quite simple a 96-04 oem cable...it's actually longer than the fox cable but will work fine
