I recently swapped a t56 into my 03 GT and the speedometer isnt working. It is a viper spec t56 and it has the speed sensor on the passenger side. I was wondering if maybe it needs a tune to get a reading or if the sensor is bad?
I attached a pic of the sensor that is in my transmission (its not a pic of my car, just one I got on the internet)

Are the electrical connectors the same?

Ford uses VSS sensors up till 98. From 99+, Ford uses an OSS sensor. The sensors are NOT compatible with each other.

In 2004, Ford changed the number of teeth on the reluctor wheel. So a 04 transmission into an earlier car will need as tune. The reverse is true as well.

What model year did the transmission come from? So does the speedometer not work at all or is it off? If off, how much (percent)?

The transmission was from a 98 Cobra. The speedometer doesnt work at all. The plug in the stock harness hooks directly to the sensor. I know that doesnt necessarily mean that it is sending the right signal but I was hoping.

What does OSS stand for?

Nevermind - it stands for output shaft speed sensor.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but, I'm thinking the reluctor wheel was what the crank shaft senors was reading off of.
