T5"Z" identification

How can I identify a t5z from a standard t5, OTHER than the 2.95 first? Im looking at a t5 that came with a guys 93 cobra, but he doesnt think its the original trans. He said it has the steel bearing retainer, and looks rebuilt, shifted well, just doesnt think its the good one.

it will have the "Z" in the p/n cast into the case...

I can read the chart just fine. So I guess it doesnt have the 2.95 first, I thought it did. At least none of the production cars came with it, looks like just the aftermarket ones did. I guess my next question is how can I tell if its been abused without taking it apart? About all I can think of is just to spin it by hand and listen for anything, and pray for the best.
