First off.... Welcome to the forums!

Not many 03/04 Cobra owners run the MSD tach adaptor. If an adaptor is necessary they opt for the Ford Racing part instead which can be wired right into the ECM harness in the passenger kick panel. Not sure if the MSD is wired the same way or not. Here is a pin out chart that may or may not help.

Thank you for trying to help me, didn't know the cap thing made a difference, but thanks for the tip. I am going to send the pin diagram you sent me to the tech dept. at MSD and ask them which wire, hopefully they will help.

Thank you again, I have asked this questions on 2 forums and you are my only reply; I can't imagine there is not an 04 Cobra out there with an aftermarket tach.

Thank you again.

There's plenty of them out there and most use pin 26 from the ECM wiring harness. That's the Cylinder #1 COP signal wire.

I spent over one hour with a light and magnifying glass trying to find pin 26 on the coil harness, and I could not locate a number 26. Almost every other number but no 26.

Anyone with any advice on hooking up a tach adapter on a 2004 Cobra.

Thanks to all

I have an Autometer tach and also their tach adaptor and it needed to get spliced into one of the wires in the wire bundle that runs along the back of the engine compartment along the firewall. I mounted my adaptor in the left hand corner. No directions with the MSD unit??? What type of tach do you have??? Shiftlight??? If it is an Autometer unit there should be some type of directions with the tach or I would talk to the manufacturer and ask them which wire it is... I do believe it was a red wire.
