Tach not working

I justed installed my Auto Gauge tach. I am using a MSD 6al. Everything is hooked up and light works. But when I crank the car the needle shoots to the shift light point and sits. Like if I set it to 6k it will go from 0 to 6k when cranked and sit there. I have my red wire (key-on wire) tapped into my #11 Fuse (Radio). Do I need to put the red wire somewhere else or get a tach adapter?

Do you have the green wire plugged into the tach terminal on your 6A box?

is it switched to RPM recall. sounds like it is

Doesn't have recall. This is the one I have.

is it in shift light set mode

I didn't know there was a "shift light mode" ? I thought that mode was when you turn your car on but not crank, then turn off and crank and your good?
